As others business, after the process of recruitment, they continue selecting the candidate in very close and strict steeps. According to Miss Huyen, the manager of Human resources department of hotel, they allow the candidate to come to the hotel and fill all the form and collect all of the documents related. After that, the HRD will have a staff to filter wrong candidate with the form collected. It’s required that the written form of the candidate must include the in clear information about the resume, the personal qualifications, the letter of recommendation, particularly, the candidate must have no previous conviction, which enable the hotel to prevent some problems in the future. From the application form, they can measure the applicant’s basic job specification, for it consist of some questions about the pass job, applicant’s status, background, experience, …thanks above steps, it will be easier for the HRD to select the best ones better. In the first steps, the hotel should create a group of staff to do this job, because if there is the only a staff to take on the duty of filtering the candidates’ document, she or he can make decision subjectively, and can be influenced by two basic criteria in selection are reliability and validity. Instead, the HRD can create a group of staff to do this job, which can make the job more exact.
After filtering the better candidate through their application forms, the HRD will call all of them to the hotel to make some test. The first test is English Test , English is quite important to the staff working in the hotel, the Hanoi metropole hotel is one of the most luxurious hotel with five star rating in Hanoi and the target customer is the foreigner; therefore, all of the staff have to know English to do effective in the job. The candidate have to do the test with four basic skills in English including: reading, speaking, writing, listening, special ones are speaking and listening skill. They use this test is extremely useful, it makes sure that their staff can apply English directly into the job ,but they should give priority to those who know more than two foreigner languages, as there may be some customer do not know the English, they can come from other countries. Staff with ability to know 2 foreign languages should be paid more attention.
